Paving - patios
The key to any paving project is to start with a firm foundation. We start by excavating the site and setting drainage falls in the sub-grade.
We then lay a sub-base, for a patio this is a minimum of 75mm dolomite compacted with a heavy vibrating wacker plate. We ensure that drainage is well catered for. Paving is then laid, in the case of natural stone on a full bed of wet mortar.
Joints are pointed with vdw 800 epoxy jointing mortar, very much more durable than sand/cement. Inspection chambers can be inset into the paving, as can lighting, the end result is visually stunning and built to last a lifetime.

Paving - driveways
Our driveways are all laid on a sub-base of a minimum 150mm Mot type one roadstone compacted with a twin drum sit on vibrating roller.
We install block paving, traditional cobbles and tarmacadam drives, all are laid with appropriate falls for drainage.

Walling - brick and stone
Again we take our foundations very seriously. Our mortared walling is always laid on a concrete foundation, twice as wide as the finished wall and as deep as ground conditions dictate, minimum 100mm, sometimes up to 1200mm due to proximity of nearby trees.
We build boundary walls, retaining walls, raised beds and a wide variety of garden features to client's exact requests.
We can source a wide variety of materials from hand-made bricks to dressed and rubble stone walling. Our sandstone walling is usually constructed with a traditional lime mortar.
We also build traditional dry stone walls, as well as interior features such as brick and stone fireplaces.
As with all of our work, preparation is key, we go to great trouble to ensure that the area we turf is as flat as possible and weed free. We then lay the finest quality seeded turfs from a local supplier.
We have a team of fully qualified, fully insured Tree Surgeons who can undertake any project from hedge cutting, crown thinning, reducing, lifting, to complete tree removal. We work with local authority Tree Officers to fully comply with any necessary legislation. Please call with any questions.
We construct all types of fencing from stock proof to garden fencing, with gates made to suit client's requirements. All are built to last from pressure treated timber set in concrete footings, all fixings and furniture are galvanised, post caps and capping strips are fitted as standard.
We design and construct soft and hardwood decking to our clients exact requirements.
All decking is built on a substantial frame usually 150 x 50mm joists at 400mm centres and supported by a network of heavy timber posts set in concrete footings.
Handrails can be made to match as can steps, gates etc.
All the timber used is pressure treated with preservative giving an expected lifespan in excess of 20 years.
We design and install a range of water features to suit our clients specifications, from small garden ponds, streams, waterfalls, to large fishing lakes and flight ponds.
Features can include an array of different pumps and very often lighting to create stunning effects.
Garden ponds are created using a top quality butyl liner for the upmost durability and peace of mind.
We can organise heavy machinery and drivers for large exccavation works and clean ups.
We supply and install a wide range of sheds, summerhouses and greenhouses and can install a base to suit.
Our top of the range greenhouses are constructed from western red cedar and come with a choice of brick or stone base. They feature aluminium capping and guttering and include automatic vents, heavy brass door furniture and staging.
We also design and construct garden offices to our clients specifications. These are built with a heavy timber frame and are fully insulated, can be fitted with heating and full electrics. We can also fit out with office furniture and can advise on and supply the very latest in I.T.
